Let's Be Friends Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Let's Be Friends Blog Hop!

A blog hop is a set time frame for current or aspiring bloggers to find new blogs and quality content. It is a great way to make new friends and find inspiration! It is also a fabulous way to promote your own blog and posts.

Dear Friends,

What a day to celebrate! This is the 76th week of the Let's Be Friends blog hop! Thanks for joining us on this special day. Chelsee and Tiffany are extremely delighted to see the way this hop has grown and love to see your faces each week!

Join us every Tuesday at 7am (MST). This blog hop focuses on content. LINK UP YOUR FAVORITE POST from last week in this fun content-sharing blog hop! I love the idea of blog hopping, but I love the idea of reading posts and quality content on new blogs I've never been to even more. Instead of simply linking up your blog button, you are now able to link up your favorite post you recently wrote. Have a delicious recipe to share, DIY tutorial, or heartfelt post? Share it with us! All hosts and co-hosts put up some unique and fun content from the past week. Make sure to check them out. P.S.- you may still link up your blog button and blog name, but it is encouraged to link up your favorite post instead. You will get more page views and interest if you do so! Some of the most successful blog hops I have participate in focus on content rather than just exchanging follows. You never know who will become a loyal follower or pin that delicious new recipe you posted!

The BEST part of this blog hop? Each week there will be a WINNER! That's right, each week we will choose one lucky blog to feature from the previous week's hop. This hop receives thousands of page views every week, so your blog will have the chance to be center stage for free. You must follow all the hosts and co-hosts in order to win. Only those who link up a specific post are eligible to be featured! *You must follow all the hosts and co-hosts in order to win.

The last exciting change is that the co-host spots will now be available to all sponsors of  The Dwelling Tree or Southern Beauty Guide. If you are interested in co-hosting the blog hop, email Tiffany or Chelsee about sponsorship opportunities and how to co-host the weekly hop!

There are a couple of great giveaways going on right now at Southern Beauty Guide and The Dwelling Tree. Go check them out! :)

***This weeks featured post from last week's hop:

Hi everyone! This is Tiffany this week. Thank you all once again for continually linking up at our blog hop. It is such a fun time and I am so impressed each week with all the amazing posts. Please continue to link up an actual post instead of your blog. We want to keep reading your content and it makes it more fun to pick a winner!

... onto the winner!

As I scrolled through all the delicious posts my eyes caught this one. Perhaps it is because I have always been interested in fostering a child, but I wanted to read the post. What I would soon discover is that this little post would leave me almost in tears. Jennifer, the writer of this post, did a magnificent job of uncovering many of the stereotypes and assumptions of the kinds of homes foster kids come from, and gave me a new perspective and grace for all those involved in the foster system. This was a deep, heartfelt, and loving post. If you are considering fostering, adopting, or know a family going through the process, read this post. This is a very interesting and lovely perspective of the power of love.

The blog is filled with inspirational and real posts about life. Bookmark it for posts that will lift up your day. I am so excited to have a new daily read!

Keep posting awesome content! You make it so fun for us to read all your posts! If you can, please link up a specific post. It makes it easier for us to come and visit!

*Remember YOU can be next weeks winner! :)

There are some things that just resonate in a persons head until they need to make their way out in to the world. Sometimes it's little spontaneous thoughts, some times it's an epiphany; more likely then not, there's emotion behind it, what ever it is.

This land that we call home. The best country in the nation. Yes, it may seem that way.

Have you ever thought of the cost of what we call the best? Is it really the best?

Don't mistake my questions as ill will toward the U.S.A. The fucking U.S.A. We are the best nation.

We are free.
Free to think how we would like.
Free to sleep with who we would like.
Free to dress and express ourselves how we see fit.

But at what cost?

A month or so ago we had half the hotel full of Navy men. They were all here on a two week training and the bases were all full. The amount of military barracks and housing on Key West is phenomenal. I had never understood it's military presence and position before living here. Having that many men in house, giving up weeks and years of their life because they believe they are doing our nation a service is an eye opener. Every single one of them was polite, courteous and patient. That's more than I can say for most people.

Working at the center of the resort, the main hub if you will, gives you a chance to speak with people, see what they are all about and how you can make their stay more enjoyable. That really is the best part of the job.

There was one man in particular who made himself at home and would come talk to us daily. This man would never complain. He would ask questions about diving specific wrecks, restaurants and the like. One day we got to talking about his schooling; he needed a desk sent to his room for an online class. That subject led to another and somehow he confessed all the tours in the middle east he had done. The years or service he has given. How he was done and in school for business.

And then he got orders to return to Iraq.

No one returns from a single tour as the person they left.

Imagine three tours later. What a person you become.

He still wouldn't complain. He said it had to be done.

That dedication, the loyalty and sacrifice needs to be acknowledged.

To him, one of my best friends and old roommate, may they never know I write this but that I honor all the men and women who put years if not their whole life in service of our freedom.

I thank you.

A Re-Introduction

I don't think I've ever done an introduction post. In all my excitement to get some ink on the proverbial paper I have forgotten to get back to the basics and introduce myself. Let's get to it shall we.

I'm Jessica, also known as Jess... like half the other white girls in the world. I was called by my last name instead of my first up for most of my life, even through my marriage. Yes, I was married and now divorced. Married, miscarried and divorced I should say.  I should have been more upset at separating from my ex husband than I was and that's how I knew it wasn't the right relationship for me.

I spent a long year of finding myself again and dating before I knew what I wanted and needed. It was also that year that put me in place to find the reason I would move 180 miles away from my hometown.

A couple months ago I literally moved as far south as one can go in the U.S. All the way to the southernmost point of the U.S.. Key West, Florida. That move was the result of a long distance relationship. We did the LDR thing for almost another year before I jumped at the chance to move to paradise.

On this blog the boyfriend is referred to as AB. Boyfriend has a day job and also works as a mate on a charter fishing boat which means I see fish guts regularly. BTW, Dawn Power and Bath and Body Works White Citrus cuts that smell, in case you needed to know.

I had taught competitive gymnastics for the last 13 years until I moved. I turned in my yoga pants for big girl slacks and got a job at the front desk of Resort less than a mile from my new house. I deal with some crazy ass people all day long. This job did not restore my faith in humanity. If any of you work in hospitality, I applaud you

Nowadays when I'm not dealing with the special people at the hotel I spend a good deal of my time in the gym or in the sun. My head is content and my heart is happy when I'm on the water. Being on a 2x4 mile island means I can't get me much closer to my happy place.

I'm new to wanting girl-ish things. I've always loved massages and pedicures but I find myself shopping for dresses, makeup and accessories a lot more now. People really do change as they age.

If you want to see more of me, go here, here or here

I'm leaving you with a throw back and hopes you'll have a fabulous weekend.

Confessions + Giveaway

Vodka and Soda

// I'm in a fight with Google. They're trying to tell me someone else bought livingonsweettea.com. Are you fucking kidding me?! I want to punch you, whoever you are.

// I've been getting the urge to go hiking and camping lately. It would be nice to say peace out to technology and phones for a couple days.

// I'll totally be lazy and shave around my eyebrows rather than plucking or waxing.

// A guy at the gym was doing press handstands to a planche. (Example) I instantly wanted to talk to him about how he knew what that was but thought he'd probably look at me funny.

// I've been getting a lot of my workout exercises from here. I keep forgetting there are so many variations.

// My new blonde smart move seems to be leaving my keys in the front door. Great security right?

I'm also giving away the Trophy Fish Ad space to a Facebook fan!

Just like L.O.S.T on Facebook to be entered!

Work It.

When motivation strikes you need to go with it. At least that's what I'm telling my fluffy self. For the last week I've been on my meal prep, working out as often as possible and balancing a new household. Can anyone tell me why eating healthy is so damn expensive though? Makes me want to start my own garden so I can afford to eat the good stuff.

What I've been eating.. ya know, cause you just need to know.

Chocolate Protein P a n c a k e s a.k.a. the key to my workout loving heart. ( Recipe below!)
Overnight O a t s.  After I saw these I knew I had to make my own.
T u n a with mustard on rice cakes with a s p i n a c h salad.
Homemade turkey m e a t b a l l s, asparagus and brown r i c e
Sweet p o t a t o fries and asparagus with shredded chicken and q u i n o a
Yogurt with my new favorite g r a n o la

Chocolate Protein Pancakes
1 Scoop chocolate protein powder
1/2 tsp. baking powder
Almond milk, until desired consistency.
1 Egg

Mix everything together and pour into preheated pan. Flip when the pancakes start to bubble.

I top mine with natural peanut butter and a sliced banana.
